According to a Washington Post article, the best way to deter steroid use in teen is through frank, straight-forward communication. Whatever you do, don’t keep the steroid subject “taboo.” It needs to be addressed because there ARE teens who  think about using steriods.

A number of high schools in different parts of the country actually tried out a steroid testing system, but most came up with “swing and miss” results.  The cost for the testing was high and the number of students caught was very low.

This article talks about how some teen athletes think about using steroids, how some teen athletes are accused of using steroids, some of the negative effects of using steroids, why students consider using steroids, and why testing systems may not be the best way to deter steroid use in teens.
