Nutrition, Diet, and Injury Recovery
Did you know that nutrition can play a role in injury recovery?
I’d never really even thought about it until I saw an article called Nutrition for the Injured Athlete.
One thing that caught my eye was the fact that an injury may require a change in diet. Like I said, I never really thought about it before. I don’t think anyone ever told me to eat differently after an injury. They tell you what to do to the injury to help it heal better or faster (ice, heat, clean, stretch, etc, etc, etc), but I don’t remember anyone every mentioning diet or nutrition in regards to recovering from an injury.
According to the article, dietary changes may be necessary if your child:
- is going through a long-term recovery
- had surgical trauma
- has a fever
- has an infection
